Fishing was better today...it seemed to pick up with the cloudy weather. I didn't get to fish until the afternoon, but had some success mostly with the lm bass. I had recently spent $8.47 at WalMart on a package of six assorted #3 spinners made by SouthBend. Too cheap, I know, but thought I'd give them a try. I found that these things have an amazing "thumping" type action....even more impressive than the Mepps or Blue Fox that I have used. I decided to cast, allow to sink for a few seconds, then retrieve. After snagging two of the spinners on the bottom, I found a combination of good sinking times and retrieve speed (slow is better, but not too slow) and began picking up the bass bite. The little bass just loved the gold blade/yellow tail spinner, as well as the gold blade/rust tail. My best were 3 bass between 14 and 15" and 1 bass that was 16.5"--a pretty fat one that weighed 3 lb. 5 oz. All were released.
Oh yeah..where did I fish? at both ends of the lake...it didn't seem to matter...near the spillway, and also near the entrance to the NMZ.
