I was out with the wife from 6 am to 6 pm, nothing but muskie fishing. Skunked. Saw at least 8 good muskies thrashing about (no follows, they were just mocking me). The weeds have really died back a ton since last week, and an algea bloom has the water a little murky, but they were feeding, no doubt about it, just not on my rod. I'm still amazed at the numbers and size of fish in this lake. With the coldfront (a real one) the algae will clear quickly and the muskies will get Hot really soon. I'll be back next week.
Good Luck Everyone,
Kevin W

PS.. the water temp was 70 at 6 inches, and my new Mepps Muskie Marabou looks so good I wanted to bite it. I bet my biggest muskie this fall will be on it.

When does Shabbona turn over? After it does, would trolling deep diving cranks like depth raiders be a good method for possibly getting bit? Until then, what is typically the best structure to find active fish this time of year?

p.s. I have only seen 1 decent fish on a worm harness and caught 1 20 inch muskie on the same worm harness at Shabbona.

Thanks for the informative fishing report! Often times, you learn more from a "skunked" fishing report than from someone that caught fish.

I'll be out all day with my boat partner on Wednesday fishing for muskies. The plan will be suicks on the weedlines and dropoffs in the morning and evening, and thowing the whole tacklebox into the deep trees/dam face in the afternoon. I'll let everyone know how we do!

What a difference a day makes !!! When I got up this morning and saw the weather, I ran out to a local forest preserve lake and bagged a 20 inch bass, a pair of 15"s and a bunch a runts in 1 1/2 hours. Hope someone did the same at Shabbona !!! Wish I could have been out there. I'll be out next week.
