Hey all,

Over the years here, I've seen several references to using a paint roller to get back expensive musky tackle. Could someone elaborate on the technique used? Or is it just as simple as sticking the roller frame/pole in the water, following the line down to the lure, and jiggling the roller until it pulls the lure off of the snag.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Basically you take an extendable paint roller and run it down your like. When you hit the lure you will feel it stop. You basically pop the lure off whatever you are stuck on. Works pretty well in Shabbona since you usually get caught on the cribs.

Another nice thing about paint rollers is that they are steel and don't bend as easy as the more expensive aluminum retrievers do.
The drawback to steel is rust so drill a hole to let all the water out and keep it oiled up.
