Anyone Use A Mepps Musky Marabou @ Shab Yet?

Hey all,

Well, after paying attention to some other musky boards, I rushed out and got the new "hot bait". The bait shop I went to got an order of 120 units, and when I got there a day later, there were approx. 40 left.

According to anyone that's tried the lure, this Musky Marabou bucktail is slaying big fish like no other bucktail has in recent memory. This is all up north though. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the lure at Shab yet.

I have two of them that are BURNING A HOLE in my tackle box right now. Maybe by next week I'll be able to make it out there and throw the thing hard.

Again, just wondering if anyone else has beat me to the punch by trying the new hot lure at Shab.

being a fly tyer i would question the reason for the marabou choice. it matts together, especially at reasonable fast retrieve or in current. it is also not known for longevityafter being used time and time again. rabbit hair strip would be my choice for action. i will check them out when i see one, not to buy you got me curious . hope they give you confidence for your next hunt at shabbona

We just got our first shipment in today at Lakeside. They should make a nice wake going through the water.

Be careful what you say on this site Denny, some people might think your talking about a new boat motor making a wake and think it"s OK to bring the o"l 50 horse out Shab.

I tie my own Maraboo bucktails and they do work great. Shumway bucktails have been using maraboo for sometime now. The Mepps one should do just as well. Interesting how there is now alot of hype about them when maraboo bucktails has been on the market for years. Goes to show you how big of a market Mepps has compared to the "small" companies.

Maybe Shabbona should impose a restriction on how fast we can retrieve these lures....
