Becky has updated the Best Of 2003 with more fish pictures. Check them out!!!

2003 has been an exceptional year for Largemouth Bass, Walleye and Catfish. Crappie action has been numerous, but the size has been smaller than last year. Muskie action has been slower also, but the 49", 32 pound monster caught last week has everyone looking forward to the Fall.

I may even take up Muskie fishing this Fall. I have talked at length with Ron Faulk, and we are ready to have that first 50", 40+ pound Muskie caught at Shabbona. I also anticipate the first 20+ pound Catfish this Fall. (The lake record Catfish is 19.9.)

Add to that, the Walleye Lake Record of 9.9 pounds, which can easily be broken. The Bass Lake Record is 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and I am sure there are 8 pounders out in the Lake.

Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental will pay $100. cash for anyone breaking a Lake Record. If it is a State Of Illinois Record Muskie or Walleye, we will have Dave's Taxidermy mount the fish for free.

So what are you waiting for, get to your favorite spot on Shabbona and make more Shabbona Fishing Lore.
