Hello everyone. We just recently discovered Shabbona via a Google Search for nearby camping/fishing places. We both love to camp and fish, and spend many weekends down at Lake Shelbyville. We want to try somewhere new, and are very excited about Shabbona. We plan to drive up for a day visit this coming Saturday, May 13th. We are planning a five day camping trip here in late July.

Any camping recommendations, as far as site number, etc? We refuse to buy a camper. We tent camp everywhere we go. I need to be kind of close to the shower house/bathroom area.

All suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated. We want to pick a site and get it reserved while we're up there on Saturday.

Thanks!

there is an interactive map on the web site where you can click on most of the camp sites for a look see.

hopefully this link works

see denny in the bait shop or who ever is working in the camp store for more "inside" info because they love to help us out!

Try this one:

Interactive Campground Map (click here) (http://www.shabbonalake.com/Html/camping/map.html)

Stop at the Check-in Station (click here) (http://www.shabbonalake.com/Html/camping/campground_pics/camping_registration.jpg) on your way in and find out what's open (if any) for the week you plan on coming then that will narrow your search some.

Print this form (click here) (http://www.dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/PARKS/R1/SHB/Shabbona_Camp_Reservation.htm) and you can have it mostly filled out when you get here.

Hope this helps,
Shabby

Thank you! It looks absolutely beautiful at Shabbona, so we're anxious to get up there this weekend. :)
